Waiver-Eligibility
The "Journal of Accounting & Business Archive Review" (JABAR) recognizes the potential for extenuating circumstances that may prevent authors from meeting all of the journal's submission requirements. As such, JABAR offers a limited waiver program to provide flexibility and ensure equitable access to publication for deserving authors.
I. General Eligibility:
- Waivers are considered only for exceptional circumstances beyond the author's control that have demonstrably impacted their ability to comply with the journal's policies.
- Requests for waivers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Editor-in-Chief and/or designated Associate Editors.
- Repeated requests for waivers for the same submission will not be considered favorably.
II. Types of Waivers:
JABAR offers two types of waivers:
- Processing Fee Waiver: This waiver applies to the article processing fee (APF) charged upon manuscript acceptance. Waiver requests for the APF will be considered based on documented financial hardship experienced by the author(s). Supporting evidence such as proof of low income or student status may be requested.
- Policy Exceptions: This waiver applies to specific journal policies, such as author limit, page length, or referencing requirements. Requests for policy exceptions will be considered only for compelling reasons demonstrably affecting the manuscript's content or quality. Justification based on personal preference or convenience will not be considered.
III. How to Apply for a Waiver:
- Waiver requests should be submitted alongside the initial manuscript submission.
- Requests should be clearly labelled and submitted as a separate document titled "Waiver Request".
- The request should briefly describe the extenuating circumstances and explain how they impacted the author's ability to comply with the specific policy or fee requirement.
- Supporting documentation, such as financial hardship evidence or justification for policy exceptions, should be attached to the request.
IV. Decision Process and Notification:
- The Editor-in-Chief and/or designated Associate Editors will review all waiver requests within a reasonable timeframe.
- The author(s) will be notified of the decision via email.
- The decision of the Editor-in-Chief is final and not subject to appeal.
